Inspiration / Trend Board: Seeing Red

Now playing: “Come And See Me” by PARTYNEXTDOOR feat. Drake

Autumn/Winter 2016, meet your maker: red.

Red had a moment on many a runway during fashion month. From Demna Gvasalia’s brilliant Balenciaga debut to Virgil Abloh’s Off-White, red was the accent colour of choice.

And let’s face it – oxblood is way overdone for Autumn/Winter collections.

Balenciaga AW16 – the puffy jacket styled off-shoulder, that jewel-encrusted polo neck…I mean…

I love the little scarlet accents at Balenciaga AW16. In fact, I’m in love with the entire collection. The plethoric hybrid of ideas and inspiration – say, for instance, the off-shoulder ski jackets and leather gloves (see above) inspired by sportswear – mixed with classic sensibilities like the pinstriped shirt and wool tartan, were thrown off by jewel-encrusted court heels and earrings. Balenciaga is on top of its game.

Epic red outerwear at Acne Studios, namely in the form of rainproof anoraks and jumpsuits (again, I noticed more off-shoulder coats in this collection *side eyes*).

For maximum effect, keep it monochrome head to toe à la Vetements SS15, and throw on your favourite white trainers for a sporty vibe.
